March Field

One of the oldest military air fields on the west coast of the United States is March Field; the base was founded towards the end of World War I. During the 1930s, Hap Arnold oversaw the Civilian Conservation Corps as the Base Commander. Bob Hope performed his first USO show at March Field in 1941. Camp Haan was built across the road in the 1940s to train anti-aircraft artillery crews.

As this page is a place holder for the time being, hence the focus on the first thirty or so years of March Field, which is know known as March Air Reserve Base.
